Easter at Southport

The resurrection of Jesus Christ  is the single greatest event of history. Jesus, the perfect Son of God, hung on Calvary’s cross to take the full payment for our sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬  He died and was buried. Three days later, He triumphantly rose from the dead!

Why is the resurrection so significant? Jesus’ resurrection is the triumphant and glorious victory for every believer.

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭3‬-‭4‬

Because He lives, we can live eternally. One day, He will return. The dead in Christ will be raised up, and those who are alive at His coming will be changed to receive a new, glorified body.

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him…. “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬, 17

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!”

~ Bill & Gloria Gaither

He is Risen

Because of the empty tomb, we have peace. Because of His resurrection, we can have peace during even the most troubling of times because we know He is in control of all that happens in the world

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world from the Father, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, did wonderful miracles, loved people, but nevertheless was crucified for our sins. Then on the third day — and this is the Resurrection, the celebration of that Sunday — he was raised from the dead, never to die again!

Please join us as we celebrate  the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and find out what it means to have relationship with Jesus Christ.
